Biography
Mr Nischal graduated in Medicine from King’s College Hospital Medical School in 1988. He is currently Head of the Clinical and Academic Department of Ophthalmology and fellowship director, at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London. He is Honorary Senior Lecturer at the UCL Institute of Child Health and Honorary Consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
He completed a one year Fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children , Toronto in 1998 after completing his training at the Oxford Eye Hospital. His research interests lie in paediatric anterior segment diseases ( including cataract, glaucoma and cornea) and the visual loss in craniosynostoses. In addition to peer reviewed articles he has co-authored three textbook and written over 10 chapters for various textbooks including Duane’s Ophthalmology. He is section editor for the British Journal of Ophthalmology and International Editorial member for the American Orthoptic Journal.
He sits on the medical advisory boards for the Pediatric Glaucoma and Cataract Foundation of America and the CdLS International society and is on the UK Ocular Transplant and Tissues advisory board and standards group. His clinical practice encompasses paediatric and adult strabismus, paediatric and adult cataracts and paediatric anterior segment diseases including cataract, glaucoma and cornea.
